It so happens that the world we revel in makes us blind to the other part of the world. Even though it is apparent that the other part of the world does exist, we can not exactly tell how it feels to live in that world except making the decision to actually have a tiny weeny bit experience of it by living in it. We most times learn appreciation having merely lived a short while in such world.
The short while experience of living in such world reshapes and puts perceptions about life in better form.
Most people like myself confined to a particular world learn to see the world in a whole new dimension having actually experienced living in the other part of the world. Waking up daily to an environment where a 4–6 year old carries a small pale to fetch water with her elder ones makes me reflect how some other children about that age would wake up treated like a princess– be bathed for, made break fast for, be chauffeur driven to school on weekdays or taken to a recreational center on a weekend. The contrast in the both world is mind-blowing and overwhelming. Though, the two girls live in distinct worlds they aren’t getting to live life in it’s best form.
In this other part of the world, the mentality of the people can throw one off balance and keep one in awe. Being a teacher in an underdeveloped stagnant school, where they still make use of black board and chalk and have an administration that is very demanding giving no remuneration whatsoever, is a funny experience I mean the terrible kind of funny. To make matters worse, the students aren’t willing to learn, grow and become, they seem to be comfortable with their backgrounds and just follow suit with what the society has paved for them. Only few of them are good prospects and for an environment that seems a bit stagnant the present generation in their developing form would have been a solution to their societal problems as regards empowering the people and removing the veil of ignorance but, they are appearing to want to fall in the same ditch their older ones have fallen into. The system here criticizes the teachers for the student’s failure and really one cannot open their heads to put knowledge into it.
Noting the ongoing occurrences in the environment would make one feel the need to help, to save the society and the only way through that is to orientate the youths in schools about the consequences of not becoming proper literates, of not dreaming and pursuing, of not being passionate about their talents, of not changing their situation, of not being principled as young girls of seventeen (17) are mothers and wives. There’s really a lot to do and it majorly lies on orientation as that is the empowerment they need and by God’s grace there would be a major improvement.
Another experience living in this other part of the world, is the hypocritical lifestyle and attitude of being controlling by the few elites I have come across (as it is wrong to stereotype). My landlady is a typical example. She’s an industrious woman but very controlling. With her, the bad is more than the good. She doesn’t understand the concept of peaceful co-existence and having met with her kind I am learning the virtue of tolerance and great maturity to controversial situations. I am learning how to let love reign and dominate, I am learning how to be appreciative for everything I go through as there’s so much lessons to learn in funny or ugly situations.
I should include in this other part of the world I ‘revel’ in, I am embracing every moment making wonderful memories with like minds who would be leaving soon joyfully to their various worlds while I constantly see things from a positive dimension learning and appreciating my stay in the other part of the world…..
