He was awakened by the chirping sound of the birds, a sound he had been hearing from a distance for a while. His eyes were not familiar with the light he was exposed to see. ¡Ay! estás despierto (Alas! you are awake) he heard the voice of an old woman. He realized as he was about to move that he could not feel his body. ¡Sí! esta bien, no te estreses demasiado (Aye! it is fine don’t stress yourself too much) the old lady said. He stayed put on what he was lying on, that didn’t exactly feel like a bed.

He tried flashing back to what had happened to him that had landed him where he was as his eyes had wandered around making it known to him that he was in an open space. As he went down memory lane, his eyes captured the face of a little girl whom he seemed to have been seeing in his dreams. Then he heard siren blasting, then gun shots and he jolted out of his thoughts. He had remembered what had happened to him, he had fled from the prison in search of his daughter whom he never had a chance to stare into her eyes or hold her tiny fingers.

He needed to know what had really happened to him so he asked the old lady, ‘cuanto tiempo he estado aqui(how long have i been here) the old lady walked towards him and replied ‘has estado aquí por un mes'(you have been here for a month), ‘te caiste de una montana empinada'(you fell from a steep mountain). ‘Estarás paralizado por un tiempo(you will be paralysed for a while). Paralysed!!! How can he be paralysed even temporarily and he felt the old woman wasn’t being very sincere with him. The while she had mentioned was emphasised. He could not picture himself being paralysed. His prison break action had turned him paralysed even though the said ‘for a while’ which he had great doubt implied temporarily.

‘La policía te ha estado buscando(the police has been hunting for you) Tenía que hacerles creer que estás muerto( i had to make them believe you are dead) ‘Qué pecado cometiste?(what sin did you commit). Tade was relieved she had gotten the authority off his sleeves, he thought of the sin he had actually committed to undergo the severe punishment he was going through and he said aloud to the old lady ‘cometí el pecado de la amistad (I committed the sin of friendship).
